FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING CERTIFICATE: EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT(SAQA US 58761,NQF LEVEL 4, 140 credits)
FET:ECD L4 LAYOUT AND OPERATIONS:
This is anentry-level Qualificationfor those who want to enter the field of Education, Training and Development, specifically within the sub-field of Early Childhood Development (ECD). This Qualification will enable you tofacilitate the all-round development of young childrenin a manner that is sensitive to culture and individual needs (including special needs) and enable you to provide quality early childhood development services for children in a variety of contexts, including community-based services, ECD centres, athomeand in institutions.This is your first step towards attaining a comprehensive foundation phase qualification. This FET: ECD L4 is anETDP SETA and SAQA accredited training course for prospective ECDPractitioners,Teaching Assistantsand Day Care Mothers tochildren aged 0 to 5years
A period of 13 months to complete the 14-unitstandards. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: 1. The minimum age for enrolling for ECD L4 is 18 years. 2. Matric/Grade 12 certificate 3. IF NO MATRIC: An entry evaluation and mandatory Comprehension Test will determine your English and Math Literacy competency. Success in this Comprehension Test will affirm your acceptance into the ECD L4 training.
4. Foreigners from SADEC Countries will need a copy of their Passport and latest qualification to be admitted. METHOD OF TRAINING: Shiloh does Hybrid training: 1. Open Distance Learning/Student Discovery/Research with ONE compulsory contact session monthly and 2. ONE online zoom session. All students must have a smart phone with a Zoom and Gmail Account. 3. PRACTICAL COMPONENT: 4 Weeks of practical training at a local ECD Centre. (ON REGISTRATION, ALL STUDENTS MUST GO FOR IMMEDIATE POLICE CLEARANCE.) 4. NO tests or Exams, only Final Summative Activity, but students must work every day 2-3 notional hours for duration of course.
METHOD OF TRAINING: Shiloh does Hybrid training: 1. Open Distance Learning/Student Discovery/Research with ONE compulsory contact session monthly and 2. ONE online zoom session. All students must have a smart phone with a Zoom and Gmail Account. 3. PRACTICAL COMPONENT: 4 Weeks of practical training at a local ECD Centre. (ON REGISTRATION, ALL STUDENTS MUST GO FOR IMMEDIATE POLICE CLEARANCE.) 4. NO tests or Exams, only Final Summative Activity, but students must work every day 2-3 notional hours for duration of course. 5. ONE Compulsory Contact Session monthly to be held on a Saturday (90% attendance needed for competence – where facilitators only guide students and help them manage their files. Students must arrange your year according contact session dates. 6. Small group sessions where students support/guide and present each other. 7. WhatsApp Support/Information – group driven and host by Facilitator. PORT FOLIO OF EVIDENCE (FORMATIVE AND SUMMATIVE ACTIVITIES) All activities will be strictly monitored by Facilitator and Assessor, strictly adherence to submission dates. NATIONAL QUALIFICATION ON COMPLETION OF FET: ECD L4 QUALIFICATION On completion of all Portfolio of Evidence (POE), Final external Assessment, Moderation and ETDP SETA Verification will take place.
On competency all students will receive: • A Completion Letter from Shiloh Training, declaring internal competence. • A Statement of Results from ETDP SETA – (SOR), declaring external and final competence. • A SAQA accredited and sealed certificate. • Your ECD L4 SOR will enable you to register partially with SACE to receive your SACE number. (Only on completion of all levels (ECCE L7), full SACE registration will be granted.) ASSESSMENT/VACCS Assessment of your competency is based on: 1. 90% Contact and Online Session Attendance. 2. The evidence you will submit in a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). 2. As well as a practical observation towards the end of training and 4-week practical’s at ECD centre (Your PoE will include theoretical tasks and evidence of the practical tasks and presentations done.) GRADUATION A Graduation Ceremony can be held – payable by the student. + R3000.00 per student (includes cap, gown, ribbon, and light meal for three people (student may invite at most two people.) Otherwise, a Formal Certification (hand-out of certificates) take place at contact session. RESOURCES/STATIONARY Resources, own stationary, exam pads, arch lever files, arts and crafts for POE, own copies, DATA, Internet Access, practical supply materials, and courier and transport services. ALL STUDENTS must keep own copies of all activities. (Full copy of all POE’s at end of course.) FEES – PAYMENT PLAN: NB: NO LEARNERSHIPS/BURSARIES!! NB: NO WORK PLACEMENTS!! R2100.00 PENALTY PAYMENT Should you fail to complete your required modules/credits(14 modules) within 13 months, or should your account balance be in arrears at the end of the 14 months, you will be charged a penalty paymentto cover facilitation/assessor/admin fees and interest on course amount – R2100.
